Concerning the Taxpayer Protection Pledge

Taxes have been mishandled, misdirected and not given enough forethought. We must not fool ourselves; this is a tool used to always equate Democrats with raising taxes at election times. People like to hear, "No New Taxes". But, our Constitution tells us how we must raise funds to run a country. It is our system of democracy. The corporate tax breaks that Republicans want to make permanent will doom the middle and lower class. The tax breaks in themselves were a good idea. But, greed within the corporate community has taken the benefits in theory, and transported them to realistic cheaper overseas activity rather than re-investing in the American economy. Middle and lower income families do not reap the benefits. In my opinion this is counter-productive.

One of the causes documented for the fall of the once great Roman Empire, was decline of the middle class. We are on that track. This Taxpayer Protection Pledge has a Republican sensor on it. Put this right up there with the Contract With America, which was signed and pledged in front of television cameras for all to see, stating that those who signed would not run for office for more than six terms, and if they violated this pledge, they should be thrown out. Walter Jones and others are on their seventh term. They signed, promised and pledged. They all committed public perjury. This Taxpayer Pledge is another way to confuse the voter into a Republican maze of logic. This is another one of those ideas that looks good on paper, but is being used just for show.

We must be realistic about taxes. I want tax cuts for middle and lower income Americans. I want no Capital Gains Taxes to be paid for start-up small businesses. The American people do not trust American corporate management right now. That has to change.

This administration and its followers have put us into a debt never before seen in American history, with a proposed budget increase of three trillion dollars. Somehow, some taxes are going to be implemented. Corporations got their tax breaks, and look where we are. They have been selling America for seven years. Now, it's time for them to bail America out. We need to reform some of the tax breaks and let others expire. This Republican administration spending created this massive debt for the American people. Now, they are looking to once again deceive the voters as to where they should cast the blame. >/p>

So, in answer to the question of Taxpayer Protection Pledge: I want corporate America and this administration held accountable for the demise of the middle and lower income American family, who can no longer afford homes, medical care and food.
