Immigration

Protection of United States Citizens is the priority. They are given that right and have paid for it.

How dare we build a wall to keep liberty in. Liberty means freedom, and there can never be freedom with barriers. The arms of Lady Liberty are open to hold all races, religion and those hungry for a better life. My Great Great Grandfather helped to bring the Statue of Liberty to this Country. He was French, and admired American Tenacity in the face of adversity. He and other architects gave it as a gift. So, I have a personal feeling for the words of freedom She brought to the weak and suffering. My Great Grandfather built the Peace Bridge to Canada. A KKK symbolic burning cross was placed on his front lawn. He despised discrimination on all levels. Please read this as a positive, beneficial step for all. We must take the illegal out of Illegal Immigrants.

The term 'rights and citizen' are at the center of determination. Until one is a citizen, one has very limited 'rights' if any. To me, that is wherein the point is clarified. 500,000 people do not march for the 'rights of Illegal Immigrants.'

Immigrants have been granted 'Sustaining Rights' that provide benefits of health, education and welfare. Those benefits are intended for 'temporary' visa granted visitors. We must face this. Some Immigrants have outstayed their visa, which is unlawful, and keep their benefits. This abuses the system and hinders acceptability for future immigrants. Portions of those benefits are sent back to countries such as Mexico. The rights of American Citizens and taxpayers are being abused. Bush and his administration already have some of our Social Security Taxes intertwined in the Mexican Government. Bush, at the same time talking tough on immigration, is back-dooring with support for the Mexican Leadership status quo. Bush talks 'security' not for the United States; but, for his monetary building conquests. There are victims on both sides. I believe the United States is the most Benevolent Nation on this planet. We want to be the most Benevolent; but, too many have abused the Friendship we extend; both people and countries. 'Power by Infiltration' cannot be accepted as a rule for rights. There are Americans who are citizens with rights, fighting and dying in a foreign land, so that Illegal Immigrants without rights, can march on America's Streets and demand. This is unacceptable. On the other hand; We cannot tell hardworking, family loving, deeply religious people, that they cannot come to America. I remember a ship called the "Mayflower", loaded down with people who felt the same way.

Illegal Immigrants do not have 'citizen rights' to America. They are draining Hard Working Americans of benefits they depend on for security for themselves and family. The issue must be addressed now, especially with threatened national security to America. Countries and factions have caused the United States to 'React' for Her own safety. So, if blame is to be had for this interruption of normalization, start looking at, and who, the cause is; not America. Polarization has caused such 'hatred' and temperament. That's the first problem.

I am for 'Immigration'. But, there is a policy to follow, that was followed by all naturalized citizens and immigrants from years past. If other Hispanics, Germans, Italians, Irish, Jews, Lebanese, English, Asians, Russians, Africans etc, could make the journey through an Ellis Island; then, these rules and regulations must be adhered to without question. You don't 'start out on the wrong foot'. If illegal now, it is not a good criteria to pressure for rights with welfare and automatic citizenship. There is a procedure and it must be followed just like other law abiding people have done in the past. We ask for patience, understanding, and sincerity in your cause. Terror groups have forced us to take preventative action. Many nationalities in the progress of the United States have had to be placed under scrutiny at times. We must have your cooperation or it will severely hamper chances for fulfilling your dream; and also, being accepted with the respect you rightfully should have in America, upon citizenship. It is time to stop the hemorrhaging of the United States. Pros and Cons can go back and forth with convincing argument.

It's time for America to Stand and Deliver!

That being said......

Borders closed and maintained under strict guidelines for a determined period of time after a newly elected Congress, which will oversee a time frame. Current Congress is too dangerous for a lasting solution. We need time to think. Primary reason for closing borders, is not to keep out or in; but, to give our Congress time to study and debate with eventual amending of the Citizenship process. Maybe, we can make it more efficient with less time to endure; but, and I mean but, with a stronger, and possibly stricter set of requirements/documentation to follow; but, easier to process. Making citizenship reachable in a shorter period of time.
If you are illegal at this time, a period of time will be given, once again, with Congressional approval, for you to register and apply for citizenship at predetermined places. I remind you, this is with the understanding that no new immigrants are being accepted with the 'closed off border' at this time. Those already in America will be given the First Step to legal citizenship. Registration and ID card/with picture will be filed. Which will be asked to be shown on many occasions. It's like a license and car insurance; don't get caught out there without it. Infractions will be dealt with severely and with possible eventual deportation. We can make it easier and faster for you to become a citizen; but we must make the ground rules tougher. Terrorist have caused these changes, not the United States. We must feel safe, again. The people want it.
Once we call back our Brave National Guard from International Duty, and return it back to the status it was initially intended, before abuse by George Bush; they will be the determining force to protect our borders, along with increase funding for U.S. Coast Guard to protect our shores.
If found in the United States with expired visas, no visa, or no ID picture card, and not a citizen, you will be detained until the situation is resolved and there is verification of identity.
Major help will be needed within the Hispanic and Middle Eastern Communities.
If a wanted felon living in the United States, you will have two weeks to leave the U.S. before borders are secured. After that; no ID, search is made, results outstanding, you will be deported with no chance of filing for Citizenship for at least five years. If arrested again within the United States without fulfilling Citizenship requirements, you will face American Justice.
There is no problem showing 'ID' when using a credit card or check. There shouldn't be a problem, when it doesn't cost you anything just to show who you are. Yes, there will be some profiling. Just know that you are helping to protect America and your family and children. Abuse of this ID process by officials or any others will be dealt with swiftly, with strong and severe consequences. America must give a little here, and take a little there, understanding it's to protect us all, so that we can 'agree' and 'disagree' on issues for years to come. Bush and his administration, with a Congress who supported and sustained him, from Rove's to Cheney's, to Delay's, to Walter Jones Jr.'s have made mockery of The Bill of Rights. We, the People; 'We' must Protect Our Constitution, Under God, With Liberty and Justice for All.
Employers of workers must be responsible and held accountable for the welfare of immigrant workers ensuring fair pay and working conditions and correct documentation.

So much of this issue must be resolved, and now, with a straight set of facts, procedure and rules to follow. We take your feelings with complete sincerity. We cannot keep good, honest working, family loving people, out of our country. Never forget from whence we came. So a strong, vindictive, hammering way to handle this is not the epitome of Americans and justice for all. So, a passive, hope for the best, open heart, understanding, trust the terrorist of the world way, is not fair to our families and children and their security. It is not America's fault. If you want to be our friend, and live in peace, we will love you; but, deceive, hurt and use us, and you will find we are The United States of America and we were born from a 'Good Fight'. These are some suggestions for Immigration Reform. They need refinement with sound direction. America must change, rebuild and focus. We will. I will do everything possible to help you fulfill your dreams and become a United States Citizen.
