Let me first state this…..
I
received a number of these questions all at once in the mail. All of you seeking answers.
So, let me send this to all. Also, if
you are looking for a ‘yes or no’ answer and total polarity from those that
disagree, I cannot help you. There is a ‘re-defining’ of many issues that must be addressed. Situations create need. Know this with that; if we were in a
different area and restraint were needed, I would want
it. It so happens that we live here, and
to my way of thinking, in most regards, preservation of the rights of citizens
under the second amendment of our Constitution must be adhered to and
justified. Under this foolish,
incompetent administration and this Dangerous President, may I say that all
Americans have a right to bare arms and protect themselves. We very well could be the defining force,
which protects this country from invasion and for protection. I would feel a
heck of a lot better knowing that folks with weapons were in the area.
With
that being said, we don’t have the problems with guns here, as opposed to other
cities or areas. I believe what I am
saying is; what is right under a national amendment to ban firearms, doesn’t
necessarily ‘fit’ in
Question
1. Do you agree that national gun registration would violate the Second Amendment?
Question 2. Would you support legislation against illegal ‘sting
operations’?
Question 3. Would you
support a Congressional resolution that ensures tax dollars would not be used
to support a U.N. effort to disarm private citizens worldwide?
Question 4. Do you agree that the Second Amendment
guarantees an individual right over a collective right to own firearms?
These
are questions asked of me. Basically, I
do not have a problem with firearms. I
am here to protect your rights.
If
you want me to believe that you want to be able to park an M-1 Tank in your
driveway or carry a Howitzer wherever you go; then I am ‘not’ your man. I do believe we have a responsibility to
alter our behavior at times, with the overall good being our Constitutional
Rights.
So
with this in mind, I have some questions intertwined in all this,
that I need your interpretation on.
Let
me ask you this. Is there a problem with
registering a gun; or the fact that you don’t want people to know that you have
one? I am trying to find out why it
would be so difficult, inconvenient or intruding to ‘register’ a gun, when we
in fact register an automobile. I am
asking a question and not stating a position.
1
I am for your rights. I am just trying to learn here. To answer the second question first; I think
‘sting operations’ as you mention are an invasion of privacy. Much of it, is that whenever there is a
problem with weapons in the world, attention is drawn here and law abiding
weapons owners are in fact, put under the gun.
We go to war in
You’ve
got to keep those weapons. This is a
dangerous President. He will ‘bully’ and
take your rights with it, in a heartbeat. Because, ‘He’ is president, I want
gun owners to keep all rights to bear arms.
Back
to the first question, then George Bush would have a
list of gun owners in the
Question
three is not even discussable. First, I
am tired of supporting the U.N. It
should in fact rotate to other countries and their financing, every four years;
just like the Olympics.
2
I don’t think that I want a U.N. Council
telling me to give up my means of protecting my family; especially if someone
like George Bush were on that council.
You don’t put a weapon in the hands of a bully, and take protection away
from the ‘common folk’.
Wouldn’t
it be nice if we could say guns are not OK, if they are used as weapons; but,
for sport, competition and hunting, it’s a must. It’s a shame we cannot trust the behavior and
promise of fellow human beings, or should I say countries. The first thing done after war and occupation
is to disarm and enslave the defeated.
This of course makes way for a ‘kingdom’. The answer to question three, is ‘no’, ever.
To my way of thinking, question four’s a
bit tricky.
The
Constitution and Bill of Rights to that, were set up
to protect the ‘individual’ rights of all. In other words, each ‘individual’
has all these rights. So, how could you
collectively make assessment, and justify for the whole body, when the
Constitution specifically states ‘The Individual’. The right to bear arms was
given to a ‘person’, and not to a group.
Each person has a right, not each ‘group’, as seen fit by the
government. So, to answer the fourth
question, I say that I agree with the Second Amendment and the ‘individual right’.
Mind
you, ‘Running for Congress 101’ and consultants, and Polls, would say that I
should just give ‘yes and no answers’ to your questions.
3
I just want you to know that If the situation was different in
I
honestly believed you deserved a, hopefully, well-defined answer to your
questions. Life is not ‘cut and dry’
anymore. I know this; regardless, I am
for your rights. Even if I disagree on certain
points; I represent your interest. I
will fight for your wishes and interest.
I
have answered your question; now, please help me.
Give
me the three main positions for your stand on the gun issue. Give me three strong points that I can use to
rationalize and confront the skeptics, so that I have a good base when
confronted. Also, raise an answer for
the first question, and not just an infringement on our rights. Sometimes in History, we have had to give up
certain rights, like WW I and WW II. We got them back; but, is there a time of
‘give and take’ we must undergo?
With
all this, I just want you to know that I want to represent you, well. And, you are the wisdom that I seek.
With
Warm Respect,
